BANDALOOP is re-staging its seminal mountain work “Crossing”, a site-specific wilderness performance that stages dances in remote locations in the Sierra Nevada range, from the Dana Plateau in the east across the Yosemite high country to Mt. Watkins above Yosemite Valley in the west. “Crossing” will be an evening length urban performance work, integrating filmed dances into a multi-media performance for urban audiences. “Crossing” is scheduled for filming in summer, 2015. The re-mount of this master work is funded by The National Endowment for the Arts.

The original collaboration included cinematographer Greg Bernstein, composer/musician Zachary Carrettin, eight dancers, four riggers and 4,000 feet of climbing rope. This piece was adapted for the stage in 2003 with a Creation Grant from the National Dance Project and additional support from Creative Capital.  The multi-media video and musical score were funded through Irvine Fellowship.
